| Many of us baby boomers remember the good times of high
terrain vacationing. Those were experiences filled with adventure, fun and
emotional endurance. What a time it was when all the roads were open to all.
Will our children ever get to experience those moments, those days when a
single, or a few to several 4x4's, RV's and campers would head for the high
terrain? Every 4x4 had a red spare five-gallon gas can. They had the popular
CB band radio with their sounds of call handles back and forth,
Breaker-breaker, this is Bad Eye, over? Call handles are never
forgotten!
I can remember the early morning chill and hot blistering noon sun, as if
I were still there. I remember the evening stars being so bright they would
cast shadows on a moonless night.
How about the long trips to the beach, early in the morning, to make it before
low tide to dig for razor clams. What great moments in time it was to grow
up.
Its time for our children to travel the low lands, and in the
high terrain roads freely, where it may be the place you can reach out, and
almost touch the stars.
This summer, pack yourselves, your kids and pet, and head out for the weekend.
Go to the beach, lake, river, local campground or head to the mountains.
Spend time together in the great northwest and be safe.
